The Shenzhen Energy Mansion, a commercial high-rise located in Shenzhen China, is one of the most energy efficient high-rises in Asia. The core concept of the building revolves around a folded facade composed of strips, 50% of which are opaque solid panels and 50% of which are transparent. The opaque strips are oriented opposite the direction of the sun; reducing solar gain and decreasing the building’s cooling load. The transparent strips, predominantly facing north, use glass with a high degree of visual transmittance, allowing uninhibited views of Shenzhen.
Due to previous experience as an environmental consultant, Balance Architect's Philip Sima was the primary team member in charge of aspects of sustainability, working and communicating directly with our MEP, structure and facade consultants.
